Sorry to be away so long

Hi All,

Sorry to be away so long, still having computer problems. I am using to old standby so cannot share pictures, etc.

So, things are perking along here, nothing exciting, also nothing bad. My garden has it's ups and downs, lots of peas to harvest and freeze. The strawberries were a dissapointment, too much rain and cold I guess. I have planted more herbs and look forward to harvest and drying those.

Jim worked all weekend framing in part of a stall which will become the chicken coop. Did I mention I bought some chickens?? I got a variety pack, can't remember all the names but they lay brown eggs and two of them lay Easter eggs. I have taken some pictures and as soon as I have my computer up and running I will share them with you.

I have been planting more roses to replace the ones lost over the winter, very pleased with most of the new ones. Lots of flowers have come up, coneflowers and others whose name I do not remember. Hollyhocks are also sprung up all over the place, they are so pretty. I also found out that they come in yellow and some other colors so will have to order some of those also.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer, lots of fun and love.

See you soon.

So good to hear from you, Barbara! It sounds like things are coming up beautifully around your place. And chickens! Won't that be fun! My grandpa had chickens and as kids we loved to feed them and run scared silly from the mean old rooster.

Hope your computer problems are solved soon.

Well, Hi Barbara,

I just got home a bit ago and had to catch up on some chores, and now I'm catching up with some blogging friends. Sorry about your computer. I haven't posted much either lately.

Your flowers sound pretty. I have coneflowers as well, and love them. I don't have hollyhocks. Will have to get some for next year.

You're getting peas now? Wow, our pea season ended way back in May. I have lots of yummy tomatoes, zucchini and cucumbers. Green beans are done.

Chickens eh? How fun. Used to have them as well, but these days I just enjoy the wildlife and the dogs and cats.

How are the dogs handling the chickens? And by the way, the ones that lay the colored eggs are Aracunas. Fun to get the pretty Easter eggs right from the nest.

Hope your pc is fixed soon and you can share your newest pictures. Have a wonderful rest of the week.

Hugs,

Renie

Hi Barbara!

So you're a Manhattan gal huh?? What a great place that was. But I couldn't stand it to live there for long. We sure enjoyed our visit there though! It's so jammed packed with so much.

Oh I can hardly wait to see pics of your chickens - I love chickens! Linda @ Linda's Bluegate had chickens when we visited her in Texas. They had Easter eggs too! One of my favorite things to do is dry herbs at the end of summer. I used to make herbed vinegar for years. My boys would help me with it and they still remember us bottling up herbed vinegar in pretty bottles for Christmas gifts. Such fun memories.

I have some black hollyhocks and they have now got the seedpods on them. If you'd like any of the seeds let me know. I'd be happy to send you some!

Big hugs, Sherry

I am glad you are back in blog-land. I have been having problems with my computer also and it all seems to be related to our verizon high speed. Seems to be ok now. I am so jealous of you getting chickens. I would love to have chickens. I have a question - how do they do in the coop in the winter? Do you have to provide heat for them? Not that I can have chickens where I live, but I was just wondering.
