Violet Lady tagged me with a meme. Go to the sixth picture folder, choose the sixth picture and tell what it is about. This is from a couple of years ago and I was trying to make my bed. My cats had a different idea, they thought it was fine just as it was. They staked out corners and took snoozes. I did not notice the date, but judging from the open windows it must have been summer. Tonka is the grey and white cat, such a nut. The white and cream cat in the front is Sabre, our big lover. He is now very frail and I am busy feeding him all kinds of supplements trying to keep his strength up. He is still a lover and has a giant purr. In the background is Peaches and Cream she is the resident cranky old lady. She is so beautiful, but was very aloof until a few years ago now she is friendlier but has the most raucous meow. She informs me if the food dish is low, the water needs changing or the litter box is not to her standard. She is the oldest of my cats, but in better health then Sabre. She and Sabre are Himalayans which are a cross between Persian and Siamese. Tonka is technically my son's cat, but has lived with us for years. He goes under the heading of Domestic Long Hair. Not in the picture is Boo, she is a torty shell Persian, a very sweet but shy cat. All of these are rescues and much loved. I pass this on to any of my blogger friends who would like to give it a try. I look forward to seeing your pictures.

I am off to bed soon, the battery is running low. Jim finally made it home Sunday night and was supposed to be here until Thursday. Unfortunately they ran into trouble at work with some of the key machines. Around 11 pm they started calling. Since I thought I had time I had not bothered to start his wash. Once it became clear he would be leaving early, I got up and started washing and drying and folding. About 5:30 a.m. I lay down on the as I could not keep my eyes open. At 6:30 Jim and the dogs came down, end of nap. I finished up the tag ends of his wash, poor man had over a months worth of dirty laundry saved up for me. Made him breakfast and soon he was on his way back to work. Last I spoke to him everything was up and running and he was headed to his apartment. I slept for about 3 hours this morning and now am fading fast. The wind is really blowing out there, I am very glad that the predicted freezing rain did not show up. I am sure the power would have been off with a combination of ice and these high winds. I have my weather station plugged in and my oil lamps filled so am ready, just in case.
The weather center is neat, has rechargeable light which comes on when power goes off. A plug in socket to recharge your cell phone. It has another plug also, not quite sure what you would use it for. The flash light is rechargeable also.
My best to you all, stay warm and dry.

Hi Barbara!

Love the picture of the cats on the bed. You have quite a cat menagerie. I have 6 cats and 2 dogs. During the ice storm, as I was bombed by tree limbs days and nights, the cats were quite freaked out and went running under the bed continously.

It's been quite a ten days, and we have an enormous amount of clean up to do. Since this is a heavily forested area, many of the trees got badly damaged by this ice storm. It makes me cry to see huge oaks with their limbs all over the yard and woods. The weather has turned beautiful. We have been in the low 70s for a week now. The power came back last Friday afternoon, the tenth day of being in the dark. I was so thankful for its return!

I will be back soon visiting friends. Right now, there is still so much to do.

Have a wonderful week enjoying your lovely homestead and animals.

Hugs and blessings,

Renie

My guess is that those kitties weren't budging from their snooze there! That bed was perfectly made for them. Our cat, also a rescue, has a couple of cat beds she just loves, including one she slept in during her 4+ month stay in the humane society. They gave us that bed when we adopted her, and it is her favorite. I guess she took much comfort in it while living in her cage for all that time.

I am just so glad that you survived yet another challenge Miss Renie. I guess the silver lining would be lots of firewood for next winter. I tend to also use downed limbs for my plants to grow on. Since we are so used to all our modern helpers, being without can be culture shock. Stay well, take care and don't try to do it all at once.

I am looking at that picture and knowing the cats were so happy, but wishing the room was a little more together, lol. I have since moved things around a bit, but the bed is in the same place. It's placement allows me to wake up to the sunrises.

Hello dear Barbara:-)

Your cats are so beautiful and look very comfy in your bed! lol I did this meme as well a couple of weeks ago and I was so curious as to what my 6th picture in the 6th folder would be...ended up being the stray cats I feed! lol

I think we're all wishing for this Winter to be over. We're getting much milder temps right these last couple of days but now it's freezing rain and there's been so many accidents on the roads, police are telling people to stay home. xoxo

I love your descriptions of the different personalities of the kitties. I call my oldest girl "the old lady" also. She is also aloof towards the other two cats.

Barbara,

Your kitties look very comfy on your bed. Dakota can't get up there yet, but hubby takes him into the bed and the boys had him on the bed on the weekend, as you saw from the photos.

Your little weather station looks very interesting. I've never seen anything like it.

We have oil lamps and candles here in case of a power outage. We had two last week and never did find out why. They certainly weren't weather related, but inconvenient.

Take care and enjoy your evening.
Blessings,
Mary

Hi Barbara!

Loved reading about your cats!!! You probably figured I would. They are beautiful! Glad to hear that they are all rescues, as most of mine are, too. Mine take such comfort on my bed, also! It's THEIR bed now...not much room for me sometimes. LOL

What is the brand name of your weather station? Did you mention Black & Decker one time? That is quite the thing! Our electric was off yesterdaycordless phones were dead from no electricity (I'm on Vonage, so no internet, no phone service) and then my cell phone went dead. I just sat watching 3 candles burn....bored to death!!! I don't know how Renie did it for 10 days! But I would love to get one of those weather stations, just in case. Living alone, I need to prepare myself better.

You sure had a lot of laundry to do! WOW! Nice that you have pets to keep you company while your hubby travels with his work. I couldn't live without my pets.

Have a great week now!
